Measurement trap
There is no single official size for a soccer pitch.
90–120 m × 45–90 m
The Laws allow a pitch 90–120 m long and 45–90 m wide. For international matches the window narrows to 100–110 m by 64–75 m.
Standard range
Why this is interesting
Two professional pitches can differ by thousands of square metres and both follow the rules.
How this measurement works
Law 1 of the Laws of the Game sets ranges, not a fixed rectangle:
• Length (touchline): 90 to 120 m • Width (goal line): 45 to 90 m
For international matches the ranges are tighter:
• Length: 100 to 110 m • Width: 64 to 75 m
How certain is this?
Standard range — permitted minimum and maximum dimensions, not one universal size.
All four figures are permitted ranges from Law 1.
